Some background

Like your business, my training is unique. A not-often-seen blend of journalism, advertising and communications and sub-editing (precision proofreader + headline and caption writer).

My career path in brief: I moved back to Brisbane from Sydney in 2014 to head up the specialised writing team at a non-profit, rolling out a huge schedule of EDMs and marketing collateral for various fundraising campaigns.

Before that, I was Senior Copywriter at Pacific Magazines' in-house design studio in Sydney. There I wrote for brands like Olay, Pantene, Nivea Men, Rimmel London, Revlon, AAMI, IKEA, Puma, The Australian Army and every female sanitary product you can possibly imagine.

In a past life, I was a sub-editor (aka paid grammar Nazi/typographical tyrant), brandishing a red pen at magazines like Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Grazia, Reveal and Rolling Stone in Sydney and London. I only mention this because clients seem to love it - the exacting standards of magazine editorial have always served me well.

When the opportunity arose to write for freelance clients, I launched my own copywriting business in May 2015. My ‘here, there and everywhere’ body of experience and editorial background turned out to be the perfect training ground for producing clear, effective marketing and advertising copy.

Now I can use my words confidently to engage any audience and explain anything to anyone in clear layman’s terms via any medium – whether it’s a Facebook post, EDM, website, whitepaper, banner, brochure or blog.
